Black Cohosh, or Black Cohosh, is a plant whose scientific name is Cimicifuga racemosa, which reaches 2.5 meters in height, is native to Canada and the eastern United States. Black cohosh has traditionally been used against pain that precedes or accompanies menstruation (dysmenorrhea), also against symptoms related to digestion (dyspepsia) and various other health disorders. Native Americans used it to treat female problems related to menstruation and menopause.

Menopause: Thanks to its phytoestrogenic components, including triterpene glycosides, black cohosh undeniably offers advantages as an alternative to hormonal therapies or for women who suffer from discomfort related to menopause.

Dysmenorrhea: Black cohosh is an antispasmodic plant par excellence, effective in calming menstrual cramps.

Prevention of breast cancer: Black cohosh inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells in vitro. Its inhibitory effect would be at least as great as that of tamoxifen prescribed to women after breast cancer to prevent recurrences. In addition, black cohosh would have no effect on estrogen, which would make it possible to use this plant to relieve the symptoms of menopause in women who have had breast cancer, without risking causing a recurrence.
